Over 400 small businesses to be started in Minsk Oblast in 2010

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Some 420 small businesses will be set up and 4,400 new jobs will be created in the Minsk Oblast in 2010, BelTA learnt from head of the analytical department of the economy committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Natalia Yevseyevich. In 2009, some 615 plants were constructed in the Minsk Oblast resulting in the budget revenues worth about Br26 billion and almost 5,800 new hirings. The majority of these enterprises were set up in Smolevichi, Dzerzhinsk, Maryina Gorka, Vileika, Zaslavl, and Logoisk. Natalia Yevseyevich pointed out that the establishment of new enterprises is attributed to the efforts to improve the investment climate and create favorable conditions for investors who want to start businesses in small towns. The facilities that were used inefficiently were sold to other owners. For example, the Uzda garment factory was sold to a new owner through a tender. The new proprietor will create new jobs and purchase cutting-edge equipment. “The year 2010 is concluding the five year plan. The state complex program to develop regions, small and medium-sized towns in 2007-2010 has born fruit; the majority of the tasks is going to be fulfilled. The employment targets are met almost everywhere in the oblast, except for some regions. We are working on the task to attract investors to these regions,” head of the economy committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Turchin told BelTA. There is a total of 38 small towns in the Minsk Oblast.
